Summer of Code 2020 - First Guest Speaker, Ciera Martinez
In the latest episode of 2020 Summer of Code, a 14-week long program that I have been running, we were joined by our first guest speaker Ciera Martinez, a lead data science researcher and educator at the University of California’s Berkeley Institute for Data Science (BIDS).
Ciera conducted a couple of activities for the SOC audience that focussed on understanding issues that scientists face when making their work reproducible. She also discussed some excerpts from her latest reprint (link below) on this topic. One of the highlights of her mini-workshop was the self-introduction where she talked about her path from being a purely organismal biologist to a data scientist. Thanks to Ciera for her time and contribution to our summer program.
